Amateur Hour exists to connect.

We connect you with Australian creators, big and small. We connect you with your friends. We connect you with your community. And, most importantly, we connect you with your inner creative.

  • Rediscover your inner child.

Embrace creativity without the pressure of perfection or turning a hobby into money. This is creativity for creativity's sake.

  • Try new things.

Be inspired by others, try your hand at something you've never thought of before and be less scared of failing.

  • Deepen your friendships.

Use creativity to create opportunities to connect with friends new and old. Craft nights, homemade gifts ... do it all!

Meet the owner.

Hi, I’m Louise!

I grew up in a certified crafty family. Homemade was always the default and the ‘good scissors’ were off limits for little hands; ‘I could make that myself’ was a common refrain.

Over the years, the side of me that rose to a creative challenge seemed to shrink. What was the point if I was never going to be the best at it?

Luckily, I got over myself and decided I wanted to learn how to make things again. Armed with Pinterest and a dream, I find myself saying that old refrain more and more often and when I do, I also find a safe, peaceful space where the rules don’t matter so much and it’s more about the process than the final product.

Now, I’m passionate about helping other people find that space for themselves, to connect with their inner creative child that loved to draw and paint and sing and didn’t care about colouring outside the lines.

Welcome back. I can’t wait to meet you.
